Abstract
By way of an initial reflection on the origins of grammatical normativism in Brazil and on the influence of European (especially French) culture on the printed media at the dawn of the 20th century, this paper hopes to reveal certain traces of discursive heterogeneity – in the present case, of the “caipira” dialect – in some periodic publications from that time. Based on Mikhail Bakhtin’s notion of “plurilinguism”, we shall argue that these “caipira” texts already presented, even before the advent of modernism, forms of uprising against the dominant normativism.Downloads
