“What happens on Monday?”: Education in pandemic as a subject of public debate in Argentina
Abstract
In this article, we investigate from the epistemological framework of Critical Discourse Analysis (Fairclough, 2004; Wodak, 2015) and Appraisal Theory (Martin & White, 2005; Oteíza & Pinuer, 2019), the representations that were put into circulation on the school institution, educational practices and teachers and students during the ASPO period, in Argentina. In order to do this, we focus our analysis on two speeches delivered by the Minister of Education of Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Soledad Acuña, and the Head of Government of this same city, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, in November 2020 and April 2021 respectively, both moments in which the discussion on presence in schools gained great political and social notoriety in the country and in this city in particular.Downloads
