Focus and scope
Signo y Seña is a specialized magazine published by the Institute of Linguistics of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires. It is a semi-annual electronic and free access publication that promotes debate, the exchange of ideas, and the dissemination of research in all areas of linguistics, both in Argentina and abroad. Signo y Seña includes in each issue a thematic or monographic section by a recognized specialist in the area, and also a section of free articles, notes, reviews and news relating to the discipline. Original and unpublished works are published in its pages in Spanish and Portuguese.

Peer review process
Manuscripts submitted for publication in this journal are evaluated by anonymous referees. During the evaluation process, the identity of the authors is also kept confidential.
Once the evaluation is concluded, the authors are notified of the decision to accept or reject the manuscript. Likewise, the authors can receive the manuscript back to introduce the modifications recommended by the evaluators.
The Editorial Committee is in charge of reading the manuscripts received to determine if they meet the formal requirements before submitting them for evaluation by anonymous referees.

Open access policy
This journal provides immediate free access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports greater global knowledge sharing.

Authorship and originality
The authors of the works sent for publication in the Signo y Seña magazine are solely responsible for the contents and images that are displayed therein and attest to the accuracy of the citations and sources used. Where appropriate, the authors have authorization to reproduce the materials included in the work.

The authors declare that the manuscript is original and that it has not been published or submitted for editing by any other publication, periodical or non-periodical, electronic or non-electronic.

 

Self-archive policy

This journal allows the deposit in repositories, institutional pages or others, of all versions of the article.


Publishing rights
The authors of the works sent for publication in the Signo y Seña magazine assign their first edition editorial rights free of charge in favor of the latter, which undertakes to publish the work within a period of no more than two years from the date of publication. date of approval of the volume by the Editorial Board of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires.

Code of ethics and good practices
Signo y seña magazine adheres to the Code of Conduct and Best Practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and Code of Conduct for Journals Publishers). In compliance with this code, the journal will ensure the scientific quality of the publications and the adequate response to the needs of the readers and the authors. Entries that do not meet these ethical standards will be discarded.

Each article is reviewed by the writing team in order to detect plagiarism or non-compliance with the ethical standards of scientific production. To do this, specific tools available on the web are used to detect plagiarism (Plagium, Dupli Checker, Plagiarisma, etc.).

 

AVAILABILITY OF RESEARCH DATA

Signo y seña adheres to open research data policies (Law 26.899). It is expected that the data supporting the research results originating in the article will be archived in an appropriate public repository for sharing. Authors must report the availability of data by citing it at the end of bibliographic references or, otherwise, report the absence of shared data.

 

DATA DEPOSIT POLICY

National authors must take into account that in accordance with Law No. 26.899 “Creation of Open Access Institutional Digital Repositories, Own or Shared”, in the event that their research results published in the article have been financed or co-financed with public funds They are obliged to publish their works and primary data in institutional repositories, their own or shared. The citation of the deposited data set must appear in the bibliographic references section of the resulting publication. Citing the data set allows authorship to be recognized and facilitates its location, validation and reuse, facilitates the metrics and impact of the data and favors the transparency of scientific research. Each data set and subset must be cited independently with its own DOI or similar identifier.
