The port system of El Salvador within the Central American network

Abstract

By his geographical location, Central America has a strategic position for the world trade, as a transition territory for goods and people. The presence of Panama Canal, and the commercial opening provoked for the market liberization put the Central America countries in a career to insert themself in the global commercial markets. Many of these initiatives provoke frustration for governments and the population. In this work is propose think the Port System in El Salvador into de Central America context, using a genetically analysis of networks in the territory, and recovering Geography contributions in the discussion around ports and territory. The genetic analysis of networks, proposed by Milton Santos, raises the importance of analyzing different historical moments together with the current approach, in which the statistics and technical characteristics of the network are analyze in conjunction with the social, recovering a historical view of the network, identifying the modalities of network management and current projects.
