Abstract

It shows a spatial analysis based on the evolution of Mexican automotive industry railway freight flows from 2011 to 2013. During this time lapse, the Mexican automotive industry performed one of the most important operational development of last decades. The originality of this work is based on an updated spatial representation of the origin-destination matrix of transport of light vehicles assembled in Mexico. It delivers information to understand the growth of freight flows and the changes they produced on the territory through time. The methodology used was based on the TransCAD software. It was used the integrated function following the shortest path. The information here exposed delivers added value and facilitates decision making in the productive sector. At the same time, it is a valuable basis to research activities from an integrated approach territory – logistics.
