Abstract

Tourist routes are elements to support the tourism. This paper proposes a methodology to determine optimal routes for tourist buses based on the Assessment Index of Tourist Routes of Accessible Environment (IERTEA) and an algorithm to determine the optimal route based on travel time and the road slope. To estimate the IERTEA we employ the Analytic Hierarchy Process, while to obtain the optimal route the Dijkstra’s algorithm is used. The methodology is applied in the Queretaro Sierra Gorda (Mexico). The results show its functionality to planning tourist routes, which can assist planners and decision makers in the rural tourism scope.
