On the Doctrine of the ‘Configurationes’ of Nicole Oresme
Abstract
This paper deals with the meaning of Nicole Oreme’s ‘configurationes’. A. Maier’s and M. Clagett’s theses are herein discussed upon the basis of a rearrangement of the principles according to which Oresme builds up his doctrine. Finally, a new form of analysis is suggested highlighting the relevance of the principle stating that those representations with lateral angles greater than a right one are not admitted.Downloads
