Abstract
After a brief historical presentation of the Imperial Ideal of Rome as conceived in the Middle Ages, and a brief reminder of the entry of the “Donatio Constantini” into Medieval Political Thought, this paper intends –in this first part of its work– to highlight the role that the “Donatio” played in Dante Alighieri’s Political System.
