Abstract

In the late ancient Age and in the early middle Ages, besides the more learned Christian current which regarded, according the neo-Platonic philosophy, the body as the “prison of soul”, there is a more popular and widespread stream, which found expression in the liturgic texts, where the body was not judged as the “prison of soul” but rather as its “good fellow”, which also was saved and redeemed by Christ.
