Abstract

Magee has been studying the logic works of Boethius for several years. Here he presents the first critical edition of the Liber de divisione. The publication consists of: preface [pp. XV-LXXV], the edition with the English version [pp. 1-51], commentary [pp. 53-170], appendix [171-176], bibliography [179-185] and indexes [187-224]. In the preludes, Magee deals with three themes: (1) the date of composition [pp. XVll-XXXIIl]; (2) Boethius' relationship with Porphyry and Andronicus [pp. XXXlV- LVll]; (3) the textual tradition [pp. LV111-LXXV].
