Abstract

Based on the analysis of public management of the city of San Pablo (Brazil) in the period 2017-2021, it is postulated as hypothesis that the urban metamorphoses, imposed by public policies, alludes to the victory of the option of growth over social development, radically transforming urban life. At this phase of financial capitalism, the production of space is revealed as a component of the valorization process. Business-centric urban management is accompanied by the discourse of efficiency from the realm of the private versus that of the public. A model of success that is sold to the voters taking advantage of the crisis scenario.
