Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze Monica Cabrera’s stage play Electric Mamma taking memory as the core concept, both in terms of topic and of theatrical procedures. As references to think about the theatrical theory, we will make use of Hans-Thies Lehmann and Josette Féral. In addition, we will attempt to prove that in this staging, the characters’ memories are made present in the scene and the functioning of memories itself can manifest. To address this subject, we will make use of some ideas outlined by Elizabeth Jelin within the framework of her sociological studies. Lastly, a relationship between memory and dreams will be established on the basis of Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic approach.
