Abstract
This article presents the results of a research which is being carried out at present. One of its aims is to further understand the institutional dynamics of schools which, although they are located in vulnerable1 neighbourhoods, manage to achieve good learning results. Our main interest is to describe and understand these dynamics, with a special focus on the processes of crisis and institutional recovery, the breaks, the bridges, the continuities and the different answers that are woven in an institution set deep in a context of poverty and where the development of education is still posible. This paper will describe how the meaning and representations of the work carried out in the school is very much connected with the primary aim of the institution and its functioning. We will also develop several hypotheses related to the features and ways of functioning of the organization, which seem to be very much linked to the way the children learn. The historical and situational approach covering twenty years of an institution which is over 70 years old, will allow us to establish connections between different socio-historical moments in Argentina , the different educational policies implemented and their impact on the functioning of the school from the moment of its foundation to the present. The case studied is a primary school located in the School District of Partido General San Martín in the Province of Buenos Aires. From the methodological point of view, an institutional approach, with contributions from a qualitative and a clinical perspective es pecially, has been adopted.
