Abstract

The paper examines the education and development of the ruling elite in the province of Mendoza by analyzing the armed forces’ high schools. These military colleges, with their boarding school infrastructure, took part in the selection and socialization of the ruling elites during the second part of the twentieth century. The quantitative and qualitative approach aims for examining the mobility and distinction of social groups that occupied the positions of power in Argentina. The empirical evidence comes from a military college in the province of Mendoza.
