Organization of microforms in libraries
Abstract
The particular characteristics of the microforms and the problems arised in their management are reviewed from the special literature. Firstly, a brief history about the origin and evolution of these resources is presented, followed by a typology and the terminology concerned. Bibliographic description is specially emphasized and guidelines for determination of access points are proposed. Criteria about its selection, storage and preservation are also provided. Besides, the advantages and disadvantages of microforms as library material are remarked.Downloads
