Abstract

The paper deals with one of the most serious problems in Tawantin Suyu and Qulla Suyu histort: the problem of long tradition. Did it exist a tradition describing events prior to the Cuzco conquest? If it did, where can we find its traces? Few early chroniclers describe events in Thiya Wanaku. Only two of them: Blas Valera, known through Anello Oliva's work and an anonymous author mentioned by Montesinos presented same date regarding a preceding tradition of Cuzco empire in Peru. By analyzing the "Relación de la provincia de los Pacaxes" this work suggests that the tradidion pointed out by the Corregidor in 1608, contained information about Thiya Wanaku. Thus, searching for long oral traditions, even with its limitations and difficulties, can give us interesting data.
